Next months Purchase: ATVI or NVDA

Which is good / bad?

SoftBank bought out ARM Holdings last year. As an ARM investor it was bad for me because that cut short my profits from a great company. Don’t be surprised if SoftBank goes after Nvidia which would give you a short term spike and a long term opportunity loss.

When I put on my “amateur quant” hat, NVDA seems overpriced by many metrics. But it’s a solid, growing company, and its competition is almost entirely AMD (which owns ATI), which is flying high now, but has always been a troubled stock before, with the company just getting by over the years.

You could go long NVDA on dips, and short AMD.

I like both NVDA and ATVI, but I don’t know what’s a good buy price. I made some money on both recently, but I’m not holding either at the moment.
