East bound train ran into stopped train. West bound train ran into cars derailed from east bound incident.
What happened? Who went past stop signal? Did signals fail? Isn’t positive train control supposed to prevent human error? Was the train properly crewed? Engineer doing his job?
No one hurt. Thank God. But NSC seems to have too many accidents.
Are trains equipped with radar (or similar) to warn of impending impacts? Not that radar would solve issues arising from coming around a bend, but it seems it wouldn’t be terribly hard to make improvements.
For that matter, signal action could be broadcast to trains at a distance… but I would have assumed this would already be in place… silly me…
