Once upon a time, the NPI board was full of political posts. TMF apparently decided not to enforce the no politics rule there because of a perception that the majority of board participants wanted to include politics. Perhaps it was just a majority of the loudest voices. At any rate, that whole group of participants has now gone off to a different technology and the remaining participants have no interest in having politics disrupt the board. This has been happening naturally until 2 days ago when a strongly political post was made that had nothing to do with NPI. We now have a 15 post thread. I and others FA’d the original post and I specifically asked for the whole thread to be deleted as none of it has anything to do with NPI, but it remains.
So, please remove any notes about politics being allowed on NPI and respond to FAs so that we don’t fall into the morass of the past. You might also remove the exclusion of NPI from the Best Of list, although there doesn’t currently seem much risk of that mattering.
Glad that worked out. Remember, all Fool Alerted posts WILL be reviewed and if the moderators agree that they violate the Fool Terms of Service, they will be removed.

If I didn’t know any better it looks like this entire website is starting to look like Saul’s. You can’t say a darn thing to where he doesn’t get all upset and turns his henchmen on you.
I would not disagree that society in general is more sensitive and less tolerant today than in the past, and I do not except myself from that generalization. I struggle sometimes to balance my passion and my patience. I think manage that reasonably well but I am sure others will see me differently.
I think what TMF is striving for is a community where everyone feels welcome to participate. If one Fool’s strident commentary intimidates another Fool to remain silent, that is a failure on our part. The goal is not to stop speech but to encourage more of it, a diversity of opinions and views from which we can all benefit, whether we agree or disagree with the actual content of the message.

^ This. From the caterwauling about pulled posts you’d think teeth were being pulled instead. Although someone might be busting with pride over their great thesis that got pulled, it is just a post. There are literally millions of them on TMF. Yours wasn’t that special. The number of people who care about a particular post being pulled besides you might be very close to, if not actually, zero. And if your thoughts were really so great, in most cases you could easily reframe it so it doesn’t violate the TOS.
The reality is that all message boards need moderation or else they descend into spam and chaos. You have to have some moderation or else the good content gets drowned out. As a though experiment, which are the most popular boards on TMF? I’d say Saul and METAR. Which are the most moderated boards at TMF? Saul and METAR. So, there you go.
And while there are some definite grey areas, for the most part the moderation is really straightforward and uniform. I can pretty much tell which posts are going to get pulled before the event. Including mine. I had a highly recc’ed post pulled on METAR just the other day. I knew I was pushing it at the time, and sure enough, it was over the line. I didn’t, however, whine about it. If I thought it were critical to humanity I could re-frame and repost. But probably no one case, so I moved on.
