OT: Brilliant New Yuval Harari Interview — including on AI, Info Econ, and Modern Morality

For me Harari is ALWAYS worth listening to. This newish interview goes deep, shining very useful light on our interlinked economic-info-eco-AI-political crises. The interviewer seems like a decent guy who knows how to ask leading questions and then to shut up and listen.

His comments, as an Israeli, on the current situation in the Middle East are more than brilliant — but hey, I think that because his fundamentals on the current disaster are mine as well, but far more profoundly thought through. His thoughts on AI continue to evolve as both AI and the economics around it evolve, and his comments are incisive, non-alarmist, and brilliant.

As always, his combination of being a profound Historian and Philosopher give his thoughts on current affairs deep profundity and clarity. He is wonderfully clear on what he does not know or is muddled about.

I cannot imagine anyone not benefitting from this interview.

Looking beyond today’s crises, Harari considers the future of humanity — asking what choices we must make to avoid catastrophe and build a world that balances technological innovation with human rights, peace, and global cooperation.

  • Technical innovation, the basis of progress, does pose problems
  • Real human rights do not impose obligations on anyone
  • Peace is an interlude between wars
  • Global competition! Comparative advantage
