I got my enhanced drivers license a few years ago, had to bring in birth certificate, if memory serves. I got it for traveling into Canada, the north shore of Lake Superior is an incredible place to visit.
Last year, I lost my wallet in NYC ( about 2 weeks later, it was returned to me, completely intact ), and went to SOS with birth certificate in hand, and they asked me a few questions and issued me a new one.
Every time I have voted, I’ve had to show my drivers license as proof of ID. I am highly skeptical that America has a problem with non citizens voting in elections. The last thing an illegal wants to do is go into a polling place where ID is going to be asked for. I’m all for cleaning up voting records, just don’t think it is the big problem 1 side is trying to make it out to be.
