Diplomat daughter AKA “the Kid” and her hubby dropped their eldest 15 YO daughter off at Soccer Camp in Cape Breton then drove down to “the Valley” (Annapolis Valley Nova Scotia) and dropped the 12 YO off at Yurt camp for a week. Plan was to scoot over the border into Maine for a couple of days enjoying their freedom.
So she called last night from home and they somehow just kept driving all the way to the Big Apple. They called up a really nice hotel and were offered an upgrade room so stayed a couple of nights. Got tickets for a great show and had no trouble getting into a famous restaurant.
Victor (SIL) was hoping to find a Chipotle (who almost killed him some years back with food poisoning) when they lived just outside Washington just to show them they didn’t succeed! }};-@
Sounds like they had a great time.
Her first time in New York was her first gig as a sprog diplomat and she was working on UN stuff. She was invited to a party on the top floor of the WTC for departing Aussies. She commented to herself that she had to come back and see it in daylight. The next morning it was gone.
