OT:Rich Does China-China FSD in China

He commented that there are hardly any fat people in China.
The really interesting part, first 10 minutes, for me is the China EV navigating the road with scooters zipping in & out. I would be interested if any Tesla owners with FSD view the video and answer if their Tesla could perform as well as the Chinese EV.

Quality China EVs have arrived!

NPR reported this morning that one Chinese EV wave your hand and the door opens automatically. A new type of couch potato.

Yes, Type 2 diabetes is a rapidly growing, “explosive” health crisis in China, which now has the highest number of diabetes patients in the world, with cases increasing from roughly 1% of the population in 1980 to over 10% in recent years. As of 2021, an estimated 140.9 million adults have diabetes, accounting for nearly one-quarter of all global cases.

Key factors and statistics include:

  • Rapid Surge: The prevalence of diabetes has grown 17-fold since the early 1980s.
  • Pre-diabetes Crisis: Approximately 50% of Chinese adults (nearly 500 million people) are estimated to have prediabetes, a major indicator for future Type 2 diabetes cases.
  • Younger Onset: Early-onset Type 2 diabetes (diagnosed under age 40) is rising rapidly due to lifestyle changes, including high rates of inactivity among adolescents.
  • Causes: The epidemic is driven by rapid urbanization, increased obesity, higher caloric intake, and sedentary lifestyles.
  • Projections: The burden is expected to continue growing over the next 30 years due to an aging population, with prevalence potentially reaching 12.5% by 2025.

By 2045, the number of adults with diabetes in China is projected to increase to 174.4 million.

OK. My Ioniq6 opens as I approach the car, so long as I have the fob in my pocket. No hand waving, no nothing.

(I’m not sure what diabetes has to do with any of this. I sort of doubt opening my car just by being near, by using a fob, by waving, or using a key has anything to do with my glucose levels.)

It is not specific to anything. Automation is robbing people of labor or activity people need to be healthy. Chinese society is surpassing us.

I can not imagine how unhealthy the Chinese military is. Ours is often sick enough.

The door opens??? Or it just unlocks? I think in this case mentioned in the post, the hand waving causes the door to actually swing open. My Teslas don’t have auto door openers, but the some of the higher end ones do have automatic door openers and closers. Nice feature but I’d be afraid that it would constantly break and need to be repaired.

No, it just unlocks. But the door handle pops open to let you know. (That’s a complaint among some owners: when the car is unlocked, like in a shopping center lot, the handles are obviously “open”, when locked they are “streamlined” like a Tesla door lock.)
