If deportations had been done with legal due process, in a humane way, instead of scooping people up off the street and tossing them in jail, would there have been protests in the first place?

Peaceful protest often gets coopted by violent insurgents. I’d stop short of calling them anarchists. Maybe they want a functioning government, as opposed to no government at all.
Actually you have to call them anarchists because that is what they call themselves. I am not saying this lightly. This is an extreme group.

The challenge is always identifying who is protesting. Some are protesting, others are rioting, and then you have the looters…

It’s no challenge at all! In general, the people protesting violently are the people that you oppose. For example, if you oppose a right leaning administration, then they are far right rioters with tacit approval by the people you oppose. Sometimes, it is a false flag operation by the people you oppose. But it is ALWAYS being done by the people you oppose, and never done by the people you support, tacitly or explicitly.
An LAPD psychologist explained to me, long ago, that many many destructive rioters are “dramatically enacting public external violent violative rape” through destruction and desruption. “Just remember what it was like being horrny, 16 years old, stupid, and a little angry…. Bingo!”

I don’t think you understand what I am saying. I think you need to go back and read what I posted on Las Vegas and what happened there. The Boogaloo Boys imbedded with the protesters and were causing havoc. Maybe this will give you a better understanding.
More anger and violence. Americans are watching.
Not all protesters are burning Waymos. Not all protesters are violent. But that’s beside the point.
People resort to political violence for lots of reasons. Anarchy might be one, but there are many others. Calling them all anarchists is an oversimplification.
Sure, why waste a perfectly good opportunity to wreak chaos? I guess that’s my point, lumping all “protesters” into the same category is problematic. It’s kinda like seeing some cars burning and denouncing the protests as illegitimate.
That is not what I am doing. I am saying that the ones burning the cars could be anarchist trying to foment the police like in Vegas. Of course most of the people are peaceful protesters. Nobody wants violence so you have to think why is there violence.

The media covers these protests through a lense that suggests all particpants are homogenous, with the same intent.
There are lots of Trump’s Uninformed Repellent Defenders out there. I’m not suggesting you’re one of them, I think you’re trying to inform them…good luck!
Neither is trying to overthrow an election.
