I live in upstate NY and when I woke up today and looked at my Apple Watch to see today’s weather, it said 60 degrees and Smoky.
It’s never been that warm in June. 
I opened my garage and it was so smoky, it looked like there was another fire in it!

Are you along the Hudson Valley? Seems to be conductive of smoke!
The Connecticut Valley much less so in comparison.
One of my kids lives in DC and reported heavy smoke there as well.
