I just noticed something I thought was amusing.
Several years ago, General Electric (GE) created a partnership with Hitachi, Ltd. of Japan in the nuclear power area. Both companies were involved in the nuclear industry, and they wanted to combine forces to design and supply power plants, as well as produce fuel and other services for the industry. The partnership was called GE-Hitachi, often shortened to just GEH.
Last year, GE spun off its power business, forming a new company called GE Vernova. (The name is evidently a combination of “verdant”, meaning “green”, and “nova”, meaning “new”.)
The following announcement appears on the Hitachi website:
Tokyo, April 24, 2025- Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, Ltd. (“Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy”) today announced that it will change its company name to Hitachi GE Vernova Nuclear Energy, Ltd. on June 1, 2025. This change is due to the spin-off of the energy-related businesses, including the nuclear energy by our shareholder, the former General Electric (“GE”), into GE Vernova, which took place on April 2, 2024.
But, if we go to the GE website, the name is a little different…

So, according to the Hitachi website, the company name is Hitachi GE Vernova.
But, according to the GE website, the name is GE Vernova Hitachi. I guess it depends which side of the Pacific ocean a person is on.
