I applaud the guy! He is being TRANSPARENT!
He is ADMITTING that his prices have gone or are going up.
He SHOWS DATA!
For (he says in the video) American made ‘stuff’, that goes into making HIS product.
And, he’s SHARING THAT PUBLICALLY … his ‘brethren’ are seeing his posts… which is causing THEM to ‘rethink’ their assumptions.
I think this is a WIN for both ‘sides’ of the knife edge.
Guy is not speaking with a forked tongue.
He must be a Commie. I fully expect most USian “JCs” to blame everything on the tariffs. Having lived in the big three’s front yard for 70 years, I know from experience that nothing bad is ever management’s fault. Everything bad is always the fault of the government, the union, or the Japanese. So, “himself” has given “JCs” a gold plated excuse to blame everything on the government, as they try to gouge their customers.
I don’t begrudge him at all. We’re now living in a world where people who have no clue can easily make viral videos for the masses. Maybe he makes a heck of a knife, but the dude clearly doesn’t understand supply chains.
We all learn what we must learn… When it’s our “time” to learn it.
This Guy was/is running his business by the seat of his pants, learning via “the school of hard knocks”, a notoriously expensive school.
His buds are learning vicariously.
Each of his buds is in his/her own “school of hard knocks”.
Their “time to learn about tariffs”… Is upon them (and US).
It is funny to hear Trump, and his supporters, crow about the amount of money flowing into the Treasury from tariffs. They must actually believe the lie that the foreign Country where the good originated from pays the tariff, not the American business that imports it, and the American consumer that pays a higher price in the store. Americans sure do like fairy tales when they come from the guy large and in charge. Now that Trump has made it clear that he is going all Potemkin Village on economic data, will Americans believe the fairy tale that prices have not went up, or will they believe their own eyes ( and wallet ) ??? I’m bettin a fair percentage of them keep believing the fairy tales.
It’s not a lie if you only learn part of the story.
Education, innumeracy and awareness is required to understand this.
Identification of cognitive dissonance and critical thinking may also be required…
In the commercial equipment space (cooking, not heavy machinery as above), suppliers are taking between 6-9% additional cost “in preparation for Tariff Impacts” due to US policy.
This at a time when restaurants in the quick service, sit down and fine dining space are cratering under pressure of competition, leasehold escalations and burdensome permitting requirements.
Adjust the floor height for any commercial or residential space which has changed purpose or which has planned construction work to renovate, restore or remodel…
Improve structural load bearing capability for all footers included in project work, regardless of purpose or human occupied space use. (head ache bars, speaker and kiosk stands, light poles, etc…)
The material content (Aluminum) in light poles produced with Canadian sourced Aluminum go up about 18%. That isn’t the finished goods price, however as there are finishing and coating operations which follow basic material construction.
The total cost for this particular item is about 3% higher (retail).
The installed cost with the Miami-Dade requirements is about 294% +/- 15% for contractor quote variance.
