Well, maybe…and such hesitancy makes it worthwhile to evaluate your sources.

If it’s the popular press…even seemingly august publications like the NYT…the ultimate source is likely to be a press release from the institutions where these flash-bang results were discovered or the manufacturers. Glorified advertising, basically…a.k.a. Science By Press Release in other words.

I don’t think so. The drug’s supposed effectiveness against a pantheon of ills has been hyped for months, if not years. Would not be unusual for the media to circle back and hype something they hyped before, before they hype it again.
