This is a big advance in “shareholder democracy” if widely adopted. The idea here is that large fiduciaries like Vanguard and Fidelity will allow YOU to vote the shares of each of the 500 companies in the S&P500 index fund you own. But rather than have you wade through 500 proxy statements, they’ll whittle it down to the most prominent shareholder issues of the day like Elon Musk’s pay package at Tesla, whether Disney is “too woke”, or should the current Board of Directors at Boeing be voted out?
