Perkin Elmer disvesting

Perkin Elmer is one of the chemical instrumentation companies. Best known for spectroscopy equipment like infrared. They are divesting three business lines and keeping diagnostics. That should mean they see diagnostics as their best growth opportunity. New name and ticker yet to be assigned.

Finance company is buying the other business lines. Look for them to be sold/merged into suitable buyers.

Stay tuned. Could get interesting.

Everybody seems to be doing this sort of thing. GE is one of the biggest. Their aviation business looks interesting once they get the split done.

Its the old game of streets and alleys as companies try to collect high growth, high margin businesses (and dump the rest at the first opportunity–sometimes with much creativity).
