Scratches are a problem with my reading glasses (with plastic lenses as from Walgreens) when carried in the pants pocket when wearing a shirt with no pockets.
Google search turns up several suggestions for scratched lenses including grinding or polishing and special treatments.
Filling the scratches with wax is best. Pledge furniture polish spray works well.
