I have been using Stock Investor Pro using the Parallels virtual PC on my Macintosh to download the SI Pro stock picks for more than a year. I started having problems today and can no longer get things to work. I download the whole program from AAII and try to do a fresh install. It appears tone working properly and get to the point where it is updating files. Then I hit a snag and get the following message:
At first I got hints that Firefox had a problem so I switched to Chrome but am having no luck. I sent a message to SI Pro but they have not responded. Someone on Shrewd’m said that we’re not having a problem. I may have to find someone else to provide those picks.
@lohill I have a Windows 11 machine, an SI Pro subscription, and your GTR1 Helper. Let me know how I can help. Do you have an automated tool to generate the rankings?
I am still not able to get Stock Investor Pro working. I do have an automated tool which I use. If you were able to get GTR1 Helper running, you should be able to get this to work. It is called Screen Picks and comes with a database called Screen Picks.db which contains all the necessary Radiscript for VL, WER and SI Pro Screens. The tricky thing for setting it up is to make sure it connects with the database. Use Options/Radiscript to check that.
Options/Source Fields shows all the fields you need to include the View you export from Stock Investor Pro. It is a long list but the order should not be critical. You may already have a View which is close. Export using the tab delimited option. My Program will join the two files into one. The rest is easy. There is a Help file built into my program
I exported the data as tab formatted from the SI Pro data file, and got 2 files - SIP.TXT and SIP_Key.TXT. But when I clicked Combine Files, and select either the SIP or the SIP_Key file, it just says “This is a proper file for checking.” and doesn’t do anything else.
I assume that the message said “This is NOT a proper file …” and stopped. That would happen if you were missing some of the fields in the View that you download from SIP. If you are positive you have all the SIP fields you might just combine the two files manually using Excel. The long file is the data and the short file are the headings that match the way the data is laid out. If you name that file SIP FORMATTED.txt you could then use the button to Load that file. If that works you should automatically fill the upper grid with the data and the lower grid should fill with all the SIP screens.
You might send me a copy of both the files you tried to combine. I would need all of the shorter file and just a few records from the longer (data) file.
Here is a sample of what SIP Formatted.txt should look like. I have striped out most of the data. The data is from the last time I was able to create it.
