Hi, what’s a free and easy program for using .docx files?
Thanks, Rick
I use google docs for that. But then I use google for a lot of my free programs.
I would consider that except for one thing. Correct me if I’m wrong.
As far as I can tell, organizing files in Google Docs isn’t great. Let’s say I have dozens of docs that I want organized together in a folder. Fine, I think it does that.
But doing that does NOT eliminate the same files from the “home page”. So that page gets very busy, very messy.
Hi @RBMunkin,
I use LibreOffice, the successor of OpenOffice. It has Writer (various .doc? file types), Calc (various spreadsheet files) plus other components.
Does that help you?

I find the Student version of Microsoft Office adequate for my needs. Its about $120 with no annual fees.
Does not include all Office features or include the Access database, but does Excel and Powerpoint as well as Word. Works very well. Well worth the cost.
One feature it lacks is the ability to download stock prices in Excel. But you can easily do that in Google Sheets and copy the data to Excel for calculations, etc.
I also use it. But it is maddeningly nonintuitive and different to use compared to what I remember about MS Office. I end up having to google for how to do anything even slightly “complicated”.
