Quill: Setting up an order template in TOS

Quill,

The linked video will demonstrate how to set up (and save) an order template that sets a profit target and a stop loss.

I used to use an order-entry front end when I was trading futures at IB and sometimes was kicked back out with a profit in mere seconds. So I’m glad to see the same functionality is possible in TOS, though --regrettably-- the target and stop amounts have to specified in dollars and cents rather than percentages. That means that a range of templates is going to have to be set up according to the price of what one is buying or shorting.

Slight sidebar, Is it possible to set up the HAsmoothed charts in TOS. I tired, but seemed to have no control over the MA settings that Quill suggests. Or I am confused and all HA bars are smoothed the same over all charting services?

Thanks

Pudding,

At BarChart, it’s possible to smooth HA bars to whatever extent one wants to, with the default being one lookback period. Hence, HA bars as a bar type and HA bars as they appear in the HA indicator plot the same.

I have no idea what’s possible in TOS with regard to smoothing HA bars. But I’d bet the code could be written if it doesn’t already exist. Poke around in YouTube, or just call Schwab’s tech support.

Hey Pete,

I haven’t taken the time to dig back through the discussions to check for sure exactly which “HA Smoothed charts” you are referring to, but we had a discussion on regular single smoothed and doubled smoothed about a year ago. Here’s a link to that discussion. There are several more around that time frame. Within this thread link is a shared TOS link for for “Double Smoothed” Heikin Ashi.

Here is a shared TOS link for the routine “single smoothing MA”.

Apparently Schwab has altered the code for such links, not sure if that will be an issue for the link in the referred prior discussions. Geez, that is going to mess me up if that is the case. I have a bunch of old shared codes for things I haven’t sorted through yet…guess I better figure that out.

Regardless, please let me know if these are what you are looking for or if there is something else. Adapting the coding for whatever you’re after shouldn’t be a big deal.
