Rare Positive Comment on Medicare Part D

I got my notice last week on the premium increase on my Aetna/Caremark Part D drug plan. The premium will be decreasing from $7.70/month to $1.10/month.

Of course, the copay on Tier One generic drugs is doubling, but I’m fine with that. I’ve learned that it’s usually cheaper to buy your generic drugs with GoodRx and pay cash.

The Gov’t says they can limit your Part D max out-of-pocket cost to $2,000/yr, and reduce the Gov’t subsidy to Part D. They’ll accomplish that by increasing co-pays and with the unlimited price gouging on generic drugs, and hope people don’t notice and just pay the inflated prices. With almost half of the new retiree population now buying Medicare Advantage, that’s a good bet.
