S&P 500

I don’t often look at indexes, but since the MF often measures performance against the S&P 500, I thought I’d take a look out of curiosity. The index started the year at 2058, and closed yesterday at about 2046, down about 0.6%. Gives us a chance to see how we are doing, so far, at least.

You say you don’t often look at indexes. Isn’t that just a reflection of what the market is doing and wouldn’t you want to know if you are in a up or down market?

Hi Robert, what I meant was that I don’t try to “beat” any particular index. I try to make money. If the S&P is down 13%, and I’m only down 10%, that isn’t a victory. I have to live on the money I make. So I usually don’t pay attention to the daily ups and downs of indexes.
