I bought SAM on MF recommendation about at its peak. It is now a loss of 63% and seems pretty stable at around $315. I think the beer industry and this company are pretty stable and probably will not experience significant growth, if any. I am thinking selling it and buying some of the more recent suggested stocks. Advice?
The craft brewing industry, and the brewing industry in general, has become saturated in recent decades such that organic growth is hard to achieve. Most growth comes in the form of acquisition of smaller regional breweries or forays into things like hard lemonade or seltzers, etc., often with mixed results. If I were looking for growth, or even income investments, I would look to other industries. Just my 2¢ as a beer geek and homebrewer.
I also am an occasional homebrewer and being from DE Dogfish Head merger with SAM seemed like there would be a good future. But that does not seem to be the case. So I will take my loss and sell and get some, hopefully more growth oriented stocks.
