Slightly OT: 99c Stores closing

I stopped by a local 99c Store about two weeks ago - I was surprised the store location was closed. A sign on the entrance said “no power”. I stopped by again last week, and the store was still closed.

I visited yesterday (04/10) and the store was Open, but the news was bad – store closing indications everywhere – notices about “all sales are final”, aisles 50 - 80% empty, discount signs – this was all a shock to me. I did not realize the retail chain was having a really hard time. I wasn’t sure if my store was one of the unlucky ones to be closing. When I got home, I checked, and realized the whole chain was in trouble - all 371 stores are in the midst of closing.

Could there be a glimmer of hope

@DrBob2 - Sorry, missed it. Thanks for the heads-up.

99c Store & Dollar Tree work well for me for many of the irregular purchases I make (instant coffee, snacks, plastic containers, aluminum foil, etc.) Saddened by the demise of 99c Store.
