My plan is to move to Barcelona if things turn to crap in the US. It looks like my Irish passport will allow me to escape the 100% tax if my rent vs buy analysis favors buying.

Lucky you, in a way. I love my family more than life itself, but I am tethered to my family (wife, grown children and their families) who at this point cannot or will not leave even if we have a corrupt and power mad dictator who knows that this Congress will never impeach him. I just can’t leave my wife and families behind. Feels like Germany circa 1934.
