The talking points were blatant: words to the effect “we gave it to Panama, not China, but China is running it. We are treated so unfairly.” I give a 50/50 chance the US invades Panama this year.
Speech #2: “J6 hostages”, complaints about the pardons of the J6 committee members, complaints about pardon of Milley and Liz Cheney. Complaints what they did was “criminal”.
Reporting is that TCG will commute the sentences of everyone convicted of violent assault of police officers to time served, and pardon everyone else with charges like trespass or vandalism.
Interesting precedent this sets: mob violence instigated by a POTUS is OK.
Hypothetically, a future POTUS could instigate a pogrom against some target group. The loyal could vandalize/pillage/burn the homes and businesses of the targeted group, knowing they will never face criminal charges.
While he went on and on about how the US is being so mistreated and victimized by Panama, not one word about Greenland or Canada. The Panama invasion will be as much about “show” as anything else: to intimidate Greenland and Canada to come to the table for an “arty deal”.
Panama raises the rate per US aircraft carrier, to go through the new canal (the one NOT paid for by the US) to $2B each. Panama can then hire a large army AND pay for it.
Looks like the trumpster has learned from past experience to talk big but don’t try anything hard. This is mostly just symbolic stuff with no real impact on the lives of average Americans. I notice he isn’t promising anything truly impactful like replacing the ACA with something “really good” or passing an actual immigration policy.
If he is serious about eliminating foreign names he should change Ivanka’s to Karen and Melania’s to Jane. And “Mar-a-lago” doesn’t sound American to me.
And yes we can certainly go beat up on the Panamanians. But mess with their economy and you end up with a lot of Panamanians on our southern border.
In any case, based on the economic “policy” the GOP has espoused so far, I think they are going to need a “Supernatural Revenue Service” to not blow up the deficit.
He needs two policies to be successful. One money poured into the grid because currently, pun, 40% of our electricity is wasted on the grid. This should happen before we go much further with AI or EVs. Two an industrial policy like Bidens or a continuation of Biden’s. Just as Biden continued and deepened Trump’s tariffs.
If Trump goes too far with tariffs or austerity he fails.
Odd but I think there will be little chance of tax cuts.
Kill the top of the political chain because they have threatened to kill you. Legally justified: Self defense–and you “stand your ground”. Lots of precedents.
More welfare for the “JCs”? Yup. That is a possibility.
A non-starter, just because it isn’t his. Typical “JC” attitude. At the pump seal company, the division in Germany would design unique seal assemblies to meet a customer’s needs. Their unique designs worked fine. But HQ in Kalamazoo was constantly in an uproar about the German shop producing things that did not originate at HQ.
He keeps insisting the other countries will pay the tariffs.
“I will immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system to protect American workers and families,” Trump said in his speech in the US Capitol Rotunda Monday. “Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens.”
15-25% unemployment lines begin with the TIG tariffs. Tariffs raise prices in the US and that makes less money available to spend on discretionary items. This is the definition of a major MACRO-ECONOMIC event.

On the topic of speech, if you now say something the TPTB does not like, they may try and put you on the deportation list (whatever that is), even if you are a citizen.
GOP member wants bishop ‘added to deportation list’ after Trump prayer service
