6 stores in LA. Others in Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

Urban living is becoming increasingly unpleasant. But perhaps that opinion is the result of my age<71>? In my 20’s & 30’s I loved being in a city full of hustle, bustle & strange doings. I now reside in exurbia full of quiet.

And in a shocking coincidence, all the Seattle stores that closed had just unionized or had strong union organizers working there.

Which points to the possible hazards of unionizing and becoming a high cost source of labor.

Here’s to the workers, trying to get more fairness from Big Corporations.

Luckily - even though the “enlightened” executives closed some stores - - they had to give RAISES to non union stores coincidentally after the union movement started.

Shareholders - had to share more. Hopefully it continues and grows.

oh another great part is - Starbucks by end of year will be adding a “credit card tipping” option for customers.

I’m sure the marvelous generous consumers of that business - will be thrilled.

Adding to the ever-growing list of Walgreens stores closing in SF, the location at 141 Kearny Street is set to close on February 22 — which will make it the eleventh location from America’s second-largest pharmacy store chain to close in the city since 2019.

Walgreens has previously claimed that providing security in the San Francisco locations is 46 times more expensive than the chain’s average; the pharmacy store chain also had commented that those expenses for in-store security created lackluster results.
