The Crans-Montana bar fire on January 1, reminds us that the acoustic foam used in the bar should have been treated with fire retardants to reduce flame spread. Videos suggest it was untreated.

Wikipedia tells of the similar Station nightclub fire February 20, 2003, in West Warwick, RI, when band fireworks ignited acoustic foam killing 100 people and injuring 230. We are eager to learn details of the Switzerland fire. Who supplied the acoustic foam, what was its fire spread rating, did it meet Switzerland requirements?

In the US, flame spread tests are usually run by Underwriters Laboratories. They are the experts.

I’d like an update on fire retardants in the US. They are usually required in plastics used in commercial aircraft. Traditional materials contain bromine or phosphorus and may have tox issues. What materials are still available in the US?
