"Tesla said the process is “innovative and designed to consume less hazardous reagents and create usable products compared to the conventional process,” with the final product to include “battery-grade lithium hydroxide, which will be packaged and shipped by truck and rail to various Tesla battery manufacturing sites supporting the necessary supply chain for large-scale and electric vehicle batteries.”

You expect lithium hydroxide to be made by electrolysis of purified lithium chloride producing chlorine and hydrogen as co-products. Purification of lithium chloride is likely to be by recrystallization from water–ultimately producing salt as a by-product. Depending on the impurities, the salt might be suitable as road salt.
