The night of the knives at DoD

A day or two ago, I posted this pic of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and asked anyone to pick out the two who were on the SecDef’s list of flag officers to be fired.

It is now officially official. The SecDef has fired the black man, and the woman. Not pictured, but also among the fired, USAF General James Slife, Air Force Vice Chief of Staff. Slife is white, but known for advocating diversity in the Air Force, which is now, apparently, a crime. The head of the USCG, also female, was fired a couple weeks ago.

As the long running “DEI risk to corporations” thread has discussed, seems the attitude is anyone who is a POC, or female, has supposedly “taken a job away from a straight, white, Christian, man”. Private corporations will probably be investigated for the same “crimes against white men”.

The mind boggles at the human capital that will be wasted in this country.

What do you think of Kash Patel? I’m surprised that nobody is celebrating him as the first POC to run the FBI.

Maybe he got a waiver for ideological purity?

Patel will be terrible for the FBI and the rule of law.

These celebrations are reserved for qualified people who have the character to uphold their oaths to the constitution.

Wait, you really think that liberals only care about POC filling roles, no matter their qualifications? Bonkers.

No. What I often see is liberals claiming racism when conservatives question a POC qualifications for a position.

And cons denigrate POCs as “DEI hires”, as if it is impossible for a POC to be qualified.

Some certainly do. DEI should have never been implemented. I would rather have seen severe civil penalties for discrimination.

A lot of times it is racism, that’s why it gets called out as racism. It can be overplayed, which clearly isn’t helpful.

I suppose we could call it something else if it hurts the racists’ feelings.

Geez, racists can be such snowflakes…

DEI was originally “affirmative action”, where employers make a concerted effort to recruit minorities. AA programs were a direct result of the riots of the 60s.

My personal observation: the staff at the fast food places where I have lunch have become noticeably whiter over the last couple months. The Wendy’s that had a 100% African American staff, now has a couple white people. The BK that was 100% African American is now maybe 50% white. The two local Arby’s have been almost exclusively white for quite a while.

Could be. All I know is from my experience as a production manager. I was audited twice a year by our corporate HR. They made sure that my hiring practices reflected what the application file represented.

Also, once a year the corporate office had to file a report with the EOC. They sent me a spreadsheet listing all of my current employees. The sheet had their sex, race, age (over or under 40) and position within the company. Company positions was split into management, clerical, skilled, unskilled, and I believe a few other categories, but I don’t remember them. I had to verify that the information was accurate. I’m sure if we only had white males listed in management the EOC would have made inquiries into why. At least I hoped they would have.

Things seem to have changed.

“I did not hide my policy views or the way I go about legal interpretation when I was interviewed by the Trump White House back in 2020,” says Samuels. “I believe I exercised my responsibilities with integrity and competence and a real attention to the rule of law.”

Yet now, five years on, she’s been told that her “radical” views, including her position that diversity, equity and inclusion work is permissible under law, make her unfit to serve.

The about-face has led Samuels to one conclusion.

It’s devilishly hard to “prove” discrimination, especially in an area which is as subjective as “job hiring”. There are so many factors that go into such a determination that lawsuits to prove it are seldom successful, and always expensive.

It’s ot like real estate, where you can do the reverse Oreo (send a white person in to rent, send a black person in with the same income and get denied, then send another white person in and get accepted.) That’s clear and easy to prove. How do you do it with a job hire? You can always point to some other qualification you thought would make the person “a better fit.”

No, the purpose of DEI has been called an attempt to put an unqualified person of color above a Caucasian. In reality, it’s to stop people from elevating a lesser qualified Caucasian above a person of color, which is what happened for the last 300 years.

Encouraging people to widen the applicant pool is a GOOD thing. If we want to hire “on merit”, then let’s look at ALL the people with merit, not just those who come from the right/white suburbs.

Maybe it’s my age and the era I grew up in, but when I see a POC or a woman in a senior role, they tend to be twice as qualified as the white guys. And a female POC? Three times, at least.

And if they play golf, the sky’s the limit!

I wonder if that would hold true in Presidential elections? [insert evil grin emoji - which I’m not qualified to figure out]

They don’t care.

They destroy law, order, institutions, and social convention to sew chaos, get us fighting each other, so they can run off with the golden goose.

If we quit fighting each other about left, right, or center, we may realize it’s an up down problem. .

Yasss! I recently read that the current cabinet has more wealth than the bottom 170 million in the US.

And just think how wealthy their wealthy supporters are. The wealth disparity in this country and the world is a sickness, a disgrace. We could do well to tax that wealth, worldwide, and solve many problems. The wind needs to change, soon.

A few weeks ago, I posted a piece about how the US military had withdrawn participation in an engineering school event that drew a majority POC crowd, after years of participating in the event.

Now, the Army has withdrawn from an event at an all girls prep school in South Carolina.

Seems clear. DoD does not want women or POCs. By default, they are eliminating over half of their potential enlistment pool.

They are afraid of women, POC, alternate genders, science research, vaccines, education, to where they look totally ridiculous. Sadly to will take years to undo all the damage they are doing… Sickening…
