DOGE Sudden restraint

Department heads to have last say on cuts, apparently. Will the DOGE guy take it?

DOGE is advisory, not executive. Department heads are presidential appointees so what’s the problem?

Tell Elon “No”. Elon don’t like it. Elon go on X, rile up base.

Maybe this is the start of that Trump/Musk bromance breakup we’ve been promised?

None for me. But Musk‘s power has been diminished.

 Obviously you haven’t been following what has been going on.

It never made sense for DOGE to override the Department heads appointed by the president. I like disruption but with a limit. The whole world is in chaos. The Administration needs to mellow.

Yet another example of Trump backing down when challenged. House and Senate, WHERE ARE YOU?

Change, for the sake of change and without valid reason, is not automatically a good thing. Perhaps voters will remember that next time.

That is what everyone was mad about. It was illegal, he wasn’t appointed nor vetted by the Senate. I can understand why you didn’t think it was a big deal if he was just advising but that wasn’t what was going on. At least the Department heads were vetted by the Senate. But they still can’t just remove departments that were set up by congress. Yes they have the right to lay people off but hopefully they will do it by studying their departments first instead of just cutting and then trying to hire them back.

That isn’t factual. DOGE, via the Dept of OMB, was terminating thousands - many of them ended up be rehired when it was determined that they were critically important employees - like the people that were working on the bird flu and the NNSA - which handles our nuclear arsenal. You will note below that the Deputy Director of NNSA was not aware of the terminations and objected to such.

A memo sent to NNSA employees on Friday and obtained by NBC News read: “The termination letters for some NNSA probationary employees are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel.”

“Please work with your supervisors to send this information (once you get it) to people’s personal contact emails,” the memo added.

This would be funny if it was not so dangerous.

China and Russia are actively engaged in recruiting disgruntled formally top secret employees - many of which had NO EXIT SECURITY BRIEFING (i.e. “don’t talk about xyz or else”) when they were terminated.

It is frankly embarrassing.

But… but… it’s being run by the world’s greatest genius and richest man, appointed by the best deal maker the universe has ever seen!

Musk is no genius and the “best deal maker” is elsewhere than in the White House. Real deal makers know govt (especially the US govt) is the WORST PLACE TO BE when you want to make “real deals”.

Here is another example for you:

Again, the person in charge of the agency was not informed and not on board with these actions.

Cover thine behind or join Rudy.

If true, and I have no reason to doubt the veracity of the report, it’s a terribly misguided practice. It makes sense to inform the respective departments of the problems found but not to have two separate chains of command. DOGE should remain advisory.

But the actions taken were not by DOGE but by the Dept of OMB. I don’t know what level of authority they have. Maybe there is a deeper managemt problem at the administration.

The Captain

Sorry but that is incorrect. They were laid off by DOGE and that is why they are fighting back. I don’t know why you keep trying to say differently.

Which is it?

I gave you two links. Although they were in English I assumed you would read them.

Dept of OMB is being run by DOGE employees because the OMB is the method by which they can send out all those emails.
