Why Doug DeMuro Thinks the Slate Truck Will Fail!

I don’t know the specific YouTube won’t copy and paste.

The main reason he believes the Slate will fail is that it is 2 door. The market demands a 4 door pickup. Nissan & Toyota do not make 2 door pickups. Why? Limited market.
Second reason, it is the same price as the Ford Maverick. A panel member points out: how long will that be the case due to tariffs on Mexico vehicles.
Another panel member points out it might have an appeal to businesses.

Personally I like the crank windows & 2 doors. The limited range-not so much.

This isn’t really correct. Basically, a quirk of truck CAFE requirements make small trucks impractical for manufacturers.

I believe Slate will succeed because they will have this market space all to themselves

Not necessarily.
Ford only makes 4 door Maverick pickups. Telos marketing research has found the 4 door is what Americans desire. So that is all they will make. I suspect Ford’s marketing research found the same result.
Plus there is the limited range of the Slate.
I would prefer a 2 door pickup. But due to the limited range; I would choose a Ford Maverick over the Slate.
