TWTR $44B, market turns up

Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) and its board have come to a sale agreement with Elon Musk for $44 billion - giving in to a relatively rapid hostile courtship from the eccentric billionaire.

38% markup. At what point do the pies out number the fingers to poke them in? Market seems to like it.

Just exactly how important is Twitter anyway? The poll on this board about METAR folks using Twitter rendered a small 14% saying they use regularly, and over 50% finding it useless. (“a pernicious stain”)

Not a user myself, but I thought the numbers would have reflected a higher level of interest/usage.

Given that their little blue bird icon adorns on-line pages ‘everywhere’, it seems anomalous. Add to that their inability to show profitability, etc. At the end of the day, are they really much ado about nothing???

Unless Musk demonstrates a different level of restraint as an owner than he did as a user, then its importance is about to get a lot less.

Musk is already on record stating that he isn’t necessarily doing this to make money and unless he can keep it a welcoming place (i.e. moderated), then it is hard to see how it retains users and makes decent return at this new elevated price.

Maybe Metarites are a cut above average intelligence…
