I won’t quit right away if Musk takes over. I’d like to be pleasantly surprised. But I can easily imagine how the Tesla Cult will run roughshod on critics with Musk at the top of the Twitter hierarchy. Elon is no different in leading his badly behaved and gullible fans and I can only imagine the glee and insanity to come if Peter Thiel, Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, etc., all come back in force to Twitter employing their cults of personality with an Army of bots to advance their causes.

Elon Musk is exploring whether to commence a tender offer for Twitter, according to a new securities filing.
In an updated filing published Thursday, Musk said that given the lack of response from Twitter’s board, he is now exploring a tender offer to purchase some or all shares of the company directly from its stockholders.
The filing says Musk has received commitments for $46.5 billion to help finance the potential deal. Musk has secured about $25.5 billion in debt financing through Morgan Stanley Senior Funding and other firms, and he said he has committed about $21 billion in equity financing. The other participating firms are Bank of America, Barclays, MUFG, Societe Generale, Mizuho Bank and BNP Paribas.

Musk defined the goal for Twitter at a TED event last week: “A good sign as to whether there is free speech is: Is someone you don’t like allowed to say something you don’t like? If that is the case, then we have free speech.”
But those who have said things Musk didn’t like have seen their reputations publicly trashed. Vernon Unsworth, a British caver who helped rescue 12 boys trapped in Thailand, called Musk’s efforts to help a “PR stunt” in 2018. Musk retaliated by calling him a “pedo guy.” Then he paid $50,000 to a dubious private investigator to dig into Unsworth’s background in the U.K. and Thailand. He also attempted to depose a reporter, Ryan Mac, who was covering Unsworth’s defamation lawsuit against Musk.
That same year, Musk went after Martin Tripp, a worker at Tesla’s battery plant in Nevada. Tripp saw himself as an idealist trying to improve the company’s operations; Musk viewed him as a dangerous foe who engaged in sabotage and shared data with the press and “unknown third parties.”
My note: Musk’s goons actually SWATed Tripp when they called Nevada police and told them Tripp was armed and coming after someone at the giga plant in Nevada. Lucky for Tripp, when the deputies surrounded him for questioning, they did not shoot first and ask questions later. Of course, Tripp was unarmed.
