Ukraine left turning, slowly, in the wind

Breaking the law is a far right policy. I know you don’t seem to mind that because you think you are getting something out of it but it is the old study of leaving a window broke in a house. Soon the whole neighborhood goes down.

Middle of the road for the far right is backing Putin. Not something anyone that is reasonable would think is middle of the road.

Cutting the deficit is not right or left. The means matter, that’s where we get stuck.

I don’t think the left wants huge deficits, but they don’t want to cut spending to those who need support and realize raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations won’t pass a GOP controlled Congress.

I don’t think the right wants huge deficits, but they want to cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations and realize cutting entitlements isn’t supported by the masses.

This isn’t brain surgery. We need to raise taxes AND control spending. Each side wants one without the other. Bonkers.

I agree. And we recognize that both raising taxes and cutting spending are difficult for politicians. Of course there will be strong opposition. At least they are trying.

Welp, I suppose that’s where we disagree. There currently is no effort to raise taxes. Instead, they’re trying to make tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations permanent.

I think we expect some effort to revise Social Security may include increasing FICA taxes and raising the retirement age. Not on the Trump priority list but I think all agree the time will come.

Had proposal today to privatize Amtrak and the Post Office. They have tried Social Security before. I doubt they will get away with cutting Medicaid, but we shall see.

Yes, there is. Huge tariffs. Of course, they are lying about the exporting countries paying the tariffs, but, as long as the “base” believe the lie, they can make it happen.

That’s fair. I guess I was specifically referring to efforts that make sense.

If they were trying they would go by the law. You can’t claim to be in the middle when you are advocating breaking the laws of the United States. Any reasonable person would say that puts you to the far right.

Paul, I have always respected you, and I appreciate that you are trying to address issues, but your premise that “they are trying” is ostrich like. There is no effort by the current administration that is about getting the country back on track for those that voted him in. It is all about destabilizing change that will make it easier for the administration to seize a more enduring power and higher profit. A narcissist is not motivated by what is best for others, but by what’s in it for them.

Lets remember what the title of this thread is. What Trump has done with Ukraine is cruel and twisted, contrary to what this country stands for. How many tax dollars does it take to share information we are already collecting, or allowing others to do so? None! His manipulation of the media to try to eliminate anything he doesn’t want reported is simply UNAMERICAN. He sure is trying…trying to takeover.

This is hogwash. There is ONLY one man championing PEACE. Everyone else is blood thirsty with someone else’s money and life.
Heck with them.

And here is a response, generic and rote as usual with no supporting examples or links, that I really don’t respect. Trump “championing peace?” While he messes with Ukraine, threatens to annex Canada and Greenland? Wow. Almost like there is a list of insert automatic response here, simply spewed out repeatedly.

I know there is still some sort of ignore button on these boards. Can someone please remind me how to use it?

Booyah! Thanks for the tip!

I had a forever option. Technically, it runs out in 3025.

Even the moderators are stuck in the echo chamber.

We have seen that tactic before. Twenty years ago, whenever anyone criticized the administration for it’s made up wars, the POTUS would bellow “they hate America”. When the administration was called out for warrantless surveillance, imprisonment without legal due process, and torture, the POTUS would play the victim card and bawl “we were victims on 9/11”

That is how important issues are discussed in Shiny-land now. They aren’t discussed, they are dismissed by attacking the questioner.

Neville Chamberlain also championed peace when he ceded part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938.

Right that is why he is threatening Canada. That is why Ukraine is getting bombed freely by Russia, That is why he is threatening to go into Gaza after Hamas. Some peace. Take off your blinders

Who would that be? Bernie would be the best guess. Anyone on the right is in favor of war and/or theft/fraud.

I think he means the “peace” of the graveyard. How do you obtain “peace” in 24 hours, as promised? Surrender. While there are reports the US is trying to push Canada out of the “Five Eyes” intelligence sharing group, other countries are starting to wonder if they should share their intelligence with the US, lest it end up on a desk in the Kremlin, within minutes.

Interesting. I will have to look at that again. My old TMF penalty box is still in operation and those two seem to be permanent, but I have only seen 1 year as max.
