Great earnings. AMD gross margin has increased to be about the same as INTC. NVDA is still much higher.

Both Intel and AMD refused to answer the analyst question about server competition later in the year.

Obviously great numbers. I wonder how much ASP increased versus units sold? With the sharp increase in margins, I suspect ASPs saw a significant jump.

We have six AMD servers on order since October. The supplier still doesn’t have the CPUs in stock yet, with no ETA. My gut says, with the huge demand, AMD is still selling everything they can make. YoY, revenues are up 49% for the quarter, and inventory is only up 40%. I see AMD managing this well.

Ditto with Xbox’s and Playstation 5’s on Amazon UK. Ditto with a lot of Threadrippers older and newer everywhere in the UK.
While I have said in the recent past that I was very happy with Ryzen 3950x’s, I find myself in a situation where my need for throughput is higher than that I have available. I don’t really have the shelf space for more in my house, though I think there is some spare capacity in the power supply

So the latest venture is to find some 32 core threadrippers and replace around 20 machines here, while moving the old ones out to existing but currently unused office space. The “old ones” (bought Jan 2020) will be used there.

Prices here for a Threadripper 3970x are ÂŁ1880 for the chip. Since the ÂŁ exchange rate is roughly $1.4, does anyone want to sell me any at or near US prices? Perhaps some kind soul would like to sell me 20 3970x on ebay?

Hmmm…

You probably have two chances of that.

Remember the Chance brothers, Fat and Slim?

56+ 3950x’s at the moment. They are owned by a company that I mainly own and are needed/used to try & improve OCR recognition. Pre Ryzen we also had an office filled with running machines too. Thanks to AMDs increasing core counts, we managed to consolidate in one place.
