UPS drivers are not making poverty wages:
"The average hourly wage for full-time package delivery drivers after four years on the job is $42 per hour as per UPS.
“According to UPS, full-time small package delivery drivers receive an average total compensation package of $145,000 per year while long-haul team drivers receive an average total compensation of $172,000 per year. UPS pays $0.95 per mile after four years.”

Absolutely! UPS drivers with seniority are making as much as some Engineers.
But if you’re a “job creator” who’s business model relies on a “poverty wage” workforce, a resurgent union movement can’t be a good sign. {{ LOL }}
It’s going to be harder and harder to convince poor whites that blacks and Hispanics are the cause of their unpleasant economic outcomes.

I wonder how much of that is actual W2 wages? Is the company’s FICA tax in there? Is the company’s workman’s comp premium included. Does UPS pay into the Teamster’s pension fund? When I was in grad school, we heard a talk by some honcho at US Steel. He was crying a river about what US workers cost him. “total employment cost”, he called it, which sounds like he was throwing everything he could think of in there to make the worker’s pay sound “burdensome”.

Here a WAG:
$42/hr x 40 x 52 = $87K/yr

I’m pretty sure the Teamster’s Health Plan costs about $40,000/yr. It’s virtually first dollar health coverage – similar to what police and firefighters get.
You’re not going to get that from a poverty wage employer in Alabama or Mississippi.

One piece I read said the first union demand was not wages. It was “air conditioning” in the trucks. The agreement provides for it in new vehicles; older vehicles will be retrofitted with fans (which I cannot believe have not already been provided.)
That was agreed to by UPS weeks ago. Then the union moved on…
