I was up 70%+ for the year as of late July, 33% on Tuesday, and 44% now. Saul has said his 2019 has been similar, and of course it has for many of you as well.
That’s a wild couple months, and a wild week. It’s also why investing in volatile stocks works, if you pick the right stocks. They can go down fast; they can go up fast. I’m not much for super-short posts, but it really is this simple, and we shouldn’t complicate it.
I’m sure I don’t need to mention that:
- you can lose 100% on a company if it goes to 0, so picking the right companies is crucial
- you shouldn’t invest like this if it’s not right for you
- the volatility can be scary
- you have to be willing to put in a lot of time to gain confidence in your decisions, so you don’t freak out when things are going down
I can’t tell you how to invest. I’m just pointing out why this way works (however simple the reason), and has worked incredibly for me.
