Watching this - East & Gulf Coasts dockworker strike

09/30 is the deadline for an agreement to be reached with dockworkers union. Else, around 45,000 workers across 36 East and Gulf Coast ports go on strike.

As a standalone event it has major implications. But, add it to the logistical mess that is involved with helping the Southeast portion of the country attempt to recover from Hurricane Helene impacts.

Some reports of panic - the toilet paper (TP) issue pops up again.

Yet,
“The overwhelming majority — more than 90% by some estimates — of US toilet paper consumption comes from domestic factories. Most of the rest comes from Canada and Mexico, which means it most likely arrives by rail or truck, not ship.”

This article repeats the advice on toilet paper not being an item imported via ships. Then points on the items that would be impacted.
Seafood, Electronics, Car parts, Machinery parts, Pharmaceuticals, bananas, alcohol

For the last item, alcohol - a great opportunity for American producers of alcohol and wine. Plus, those states that share borders with Canada, road-trips to our “bear-y”, friendly neighbors to the North

Strike over, probably, maybe.
