There’s no Holiday season for agriculture. Goods rot in the containers at the port.

It is a bad time to stage a strike. At first glance it makes people look good or bad. It is not a huge win if the workers are forced back to work. Plus it means the person who would push them towards some sort of slave status loves it.

Christmas shipping season runs from July through October, so this strike will catch the last month of it.

I see a bunch of deliveries arriving by air–or they won’t make it.
An analyst on CNBC this morning said that normally 30% of Christmas goods are shipped in October. This year it is only 20% because a number of companies moved things forward. But yes, everybody is scrambling, including air freight.
If the strike is extended (and labor is feeling feisty this year) supply chains will suffer and inflation could rise.
