Way OT: Teddy Roosevelt n Alice

I have no idea if this is true, but I do find it funny.
Nope. No macroeconomic use either. That’s why it’s Way OT.

We old phartz were alive when Alice was still around. I remember her sitting for an interview for a TV program, maybe “60 Minutes”, in the late 60s-early 70s. Wish I could remember what she said.

IIRC this is largely, if not entirely. true. One of my favorite quotes to use while I’m at large gatherings came from her: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, come sit by me.”

Funny. I’ve known about this since I was maybe 9 yrs old. What was I reading? Must have watched lot of PBS formerly known as NET.
The full quote was "My father always wanted to be the corpse at every funeral, the bride at every wedding and the baby at every christening "

If you know their family background her behavior is not at all surprising. Didn’t know her mother. Father was distant and had erased his first wife from history. Contentious relationship with her step mother (Who had known Alice’s mother/Teddy’s first wife and told Alice if she had lived she’d have bored Teddy to death.)

The lady’s life was about seeking attention and some level of revenge. All concerning her father and possibly her mother. Lots of psycho baggage in the Roosevelt family.

I particularly liked the ‘voodoo doll’ idea.
Is the lame duck spawn doing something similar?
