Who will be given DOGE dividend

** The tax rebate would only go out to American households who pay net-positive taxes.

Low- and moderate-income households often collect more in tax credits than they pay in taxes. The Tax Foundation points out that the bottom 50% of earners in the U.S. pay roughly 3% of the total individual income taxes collected by the IRS.

A analysis by the Pew Research Center found taxpayers earning below $40,000 generally collect more back in tax credits than they pay in taxes. So, these taxpayers would not be eligible for a DOGE dividend check.**

That sounds fair, if you do not pay in why should you get anything back?

I don’t know about fair but I know I will not complain too loudly if they make that mistake.

Every single member of my family that voted for Trump will be exempt from the check while I, who did not vote for him, will get a check.

As much as I think this is a terrible and dumb idea when we are running over a $trillion deficit, the schadenfreude I get from that fact will mitigate it a bit.

Yet watch the ones not paying in scream that they should get a cut. Much like someone living in an apartment building wanting a rebate on their property taxes. :joy:

We get a renter’s rebate in MN. Because renters pay property taxes–just not directly.

Same in Michigan, but there is a means test. People with income above a certain level do not get it.
