Why America hates its children

Well, since we enacted child labor laws, they’re not really pulling their weight are they?

All the remedies talked about in that article cost money. Who will pay? Not the “JCs”. Can’t “burden” the “JCs” by asking them to provide paid leave for new mothers. Can’t tax the “JCs” to provide child care, or better education, or better health care. That would be Communistical.

Instead, the Proles get lectures on “personal responsibility”, while child labor laws are eased, so the spawn can “learn the dignity of work”. Yeah, there’s plan: make meat packing plants de-facto daycare centers.

Around the time that I retired from the classroom, I read Richard Louv’s Last Child in the Woods. The author focused on how to reconnect children with nature but spent a good deal the book looking at how manufactured fear had constricted the lives of children.
