Wildfire in Gatlinburg, Tn 2016

It’s worse than that. It allows the country to bring out the worse in everyone. The way these guys think is if it is a red state it is a tragedy and it must be the Federal Governments fault. If it is a blue state, well they deserve it and it is the states governments fault.

Then we have an incoming President that wants to help them beat down people who are vulnerable and at their lowest. Taking an army of degenerates and turning them against other Americans that only need their help.

I totally agree. There are signs of incompetent planning and leadership. I think the point is that many are taking a huge leap to suggest that the incompetence is a direct result of DEI policies.

On a related note, we’re in the midst of nomination hearings for cabinet level positions. There are obviously unqualified and incompetent people who’ve been nominated. DEI didn’t cause these nominations.

If we’re to restore competent leadership at local, state, and federal levels, we all have to reject those in power dividing us and distracting us.

I am not so sure of this. The people of the county have to vote for bonds to fund the fire department. The city and the fire department are limited by the amount of money they have. Also with the winds, there isn’t any way to stop it once it starts until the winds die down.

This I agree with. All of this is a distraction and I am starting to see a recurring theme. It’s not what they say that is important, it’s what they don’t say. Watch the right hand.

I get your point. I’m not suggesting incompetence played any significant role in preparedness or fire fighting. It’s too early to tell, but their are many things that must be investigated. Hopefully the objective is learning and getting better, not blaming. Investigating all the failures shouldn’t be the immediate priority, the focus needs to be on extinguishing the fires and supporting impacted families.

Oddly, while listening to the hearing for Sec Def, I was left feeling that now is not the time to take a risk on an untried and unproven situation/individual - that putting in a guy with “dust on his boots” under the rationale of “trying something different” is just another side of the same DEI coin.

Right and some policies on mitigating. I like the idea of prescribed burning because it is much cheaper than going in and trying to clear. Although if they did have some areas where they logged it and then burned it it might be a good idea. Let’s see what happens.

While I agree that there’s tremendous risk in putting someone unqualified in such a critical role, this is very different. Character matters, character defects should be concerning to us all.

Critics of DEI often don’t know what it is. Their limited understanding accuses those who promote DEI of promoting unqualified people to positions based solely on their race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other minority status.

In the case of the nominated Sec Def, his qualifications are laughable. His character should be questioned based on numerous past actions and comments. He isn’t being nominated for any other reason than this - he will obey his master and willingly undercut constitutional protections and rules of war.

That was Jennifer Rubin’s take, too: Is the [upcoming] administration running a DEI program for incompetent, unqualified, and/or ethically compromised Whites?

Typical “JC”: build an echo chamber around himself, and fill it with yes-men.

It’s not the same as DEI, can we call it something else? I propose a few options:

  • UUBO - Unethical, Unqualified But Obedient
  • RDB - Redeemed Degenerate Bootlickers
  • COE - Corruption, Oppression, Exclusion

Whatever we call it, we need something different. It’s an insult to sincere and effective DEI programs to equate them to this disgraceful abdication of congressional oversight.

As the Los Angeles Fire Department faced extraordinary warnings of life-threatening winds, top commanders decided not to assign for emergency deployment roughly 1,000 available firefighters and dozens of water-carrying engines in advance of the fire that destroyed much of the Pacific Palisades and continues to burn, interviews and internal LAFD records show…

The Times’ findings come as LAFD officials continue to assert that the firefighting effort was hampered by cuts in the department’s budget and low water levels for some fire hydrants. They only acknowledged their decisions not to assign more firefighters or pre-position more of the available engines after The Times presented them with internal documents describing the department’s actions.

The deepest problem are all the people who do not understand that considering oneself only as an individual is biologically wrong, unethical, immoral, and precludes the intelligent power that human political civilization makes possible. They ought to read Aristotle’s Politics, but that is extremely unlikely in their schools.
