I realize Zillow Group has not been discussed very much on this board however the stock is up about 50% in the past 90 days. It turns out that people like taking a little bit less when they sell their home and simply tossing the keys to Zillow under its Instant Offers Program instead of going through the normal process of listing the home with an agent.
Back in the June time frame I did a deep dive into Zillow’s pivot from being an advertising company into a market maker for homes.(posted inside the paywall to the Zillow board) The company does not want to be an asset manager simply a market maker. Having spent a year or two in my younger days as a residential real estate agent I have a gut feel for how this is going to work.
