As of May 7, 2024, Georgia growers are predicting a record-breaking peach crop for 2024, which they hope will be a comeback from the 2023 season that was devastated by a late freeze. The Georgia Peach Council is excited to have a crop of particularly sweet peaches available in produce departments and farmer’s markets across North America.
Prices for peaches should drop significantly across the US. Canned peaches (15 oz) used to be about $1.49 each the past year. Ditto for pears. Historic price was about $1/can, so the next month or so should be very interesting. A significant price drop would have consumers feeling much better–and buying more of these fruits.
