AAPL Q1 2025 Earnings

Early reports right after earnings release noted the as-expected drop in iPhone sales in China dragging down iPhone sales overall, but Mac and iPad sales went up. Increased revenue from services seems to have been a big hit.

In the call, Tim Cook noted that iPhone sales tended to do better in markets where Apple Intelligence was available, and that doesn’t yet include China. Some of the press continued to note the effect of DeepSeek and the thrashing that AI darling Nvidia has taken this week, with Apple seemingly immune.

After hours, AAPL was up strongly, while NVDA was down slightly. It helped that Apple issued positive forward guidance.

After the shock of DeepSeek fades into forgotten memory, I fully expect the usual Apple naysayers to come back out of the woodwork – a couple of weeks before the next earnings report – and prognosticate doom for AAPL because Apple is “falling behind” its rivals in AI.

Ain’t that always the way it goes with Apple. I wish I had the confidence to trade on this pattern but I don’t, so I remain LTBH.

Well, it hopped up early, but everything seems to have slipped midday, but it was up a lot, +10, in that early surge, pretty high volume, too… Volatility and surprising results seem to be the standard, but I too, aha LTBH guy, tend to expect a drop on good news… Patience…

The Six Colors charting is interesting, obviously are able to dig pretty deep, nice to see…

I think today’s decline in AAPL has more to do with the broader market and reaction to tariffs news, not a drop on good Apple news.

Yes, all the indexes are falling… All in the timing, it seems…

That also seems to be the general rule: any good results from Apple are immediately buried by some broader market decline.
