I think we see Amazon-Walmart as the major competition in retail. Kroger might be in the running but not much beyond groceries. Target, Kohls, and dozens of discounters participate but not in the same league.

Walmart has done well in groceries. They now have groceries in most stores. It’s a low margin business but brings customers into stores regularly where they often buy higher margin items. They have done very well moving into online sales and fast delivery. Often you can pick up item at their store w little or no shipping charges.

Amazon has its eye on groceries and fast delivery. Local stores is more of a challenge. Still trying to get it right.

Ever heard of a little outfit called HEB?

Im not familiar w HEB. Kroger is the largest grocery chain.

Not so much (never heard of it), but I’m in the Southeast. Maybe this is a large local chain of some kind?

Pete

It’s mostly in Texas and some in Mexico. Gets high marks from customers.

There is a HEB not too far (only 90 minutes! sigh) from me located in big city of Queretaro, Mexico. I only go when other appointments take me there, but do I ever load up.

HEB is extremely intensely managed to provide Sonoran Tex-Mex staples as well as very good other goods. Wonderful. They quite simply have better selection of stuff at good prices.
