Anyone Using Avast Premium?

I’ve been using Avast Free AntiVirus for years and it seems to work pretty well. I’m considering subscribing to Premium on sale for $1.39/mo for 3 years, mostly for the properties of its firewall. Would I be better off just buying, or subscribing to, a good firewall?

Can any of you gurus recommend (or not!) Avast Premium?

Thanks, guys!

I use a MacBook Pro and use a free copy of Malwarebytes . I think can be used on pc too. I did once use Advast on a p/c but it was the free copy. Sorry don’t have further info- maybe others can chime in when they find this site.

I have used Avast and Avg free antivirus programs. No complaints. They work. Last time they tried to convert me to premium I switched to Microsoft Windows Defender. It’s included (free?) and works fine.

Are you using a Windows PC? Windows 10 and 11 have a built-in firewall. I don’t know it’s particular features, but were you looking for something more than what it provides out of the box? And for me, I am also running Bitdefender Free, which uses few resources and has protected me well for the past 6 years. I had tried Avast Free years ago, but it seemed to slow the entire system down and it’s constant tricky attempts to get me to upgrade to a paid version quickly wore thin. As for Tuni’s use of Malwarebytes, I had considered that on top of Bitdefender, but decided it wasn’t needed since I’ve had no virus problems in the past 6 years using only Bitdefender (on top of Windows Defender).

I have used NOD32 by ESET since the late 90’s. They were the first to use heuristic analysis and they have a great reputation. If you are going to pay do your research. They have a special right now - 35% off…doc

For what it’s worth I used M/S Defender, Malwarebytes (paid) and CCleaner (paid). They seem to do well for me. Good luck.

FWIW (not a lot)…

I can’t say I’ve ever been all that up on what is the best PC/Windows security. I’ve used many different products over the years (decades). ESET NOD32 was my previous choice, but at some point when it was up to renewal I did what I’ve generally done: reading comparison articles, which was how I had chosen NOD32. The last time I did that, a few years ago, I ended up with Malwarebytes and Bitdefender. I could easily afford it, so both are paid versions.

I stayed with NOD 32 because it blocked every attempt at infecting my desktop, Surface Pro and Samsung phone for 20 years…doc
