We live in south Florida, trying to install 2 Eufy security cameras. Our current devices using WiFi are: 2 Mac computers, 2 iPhones, 2 tvs (xfinity ) Comcast voice, Eero boosters (3), ADT security system, Generator ( generac). Our current bandwidth is 300 Mbps . We had 1 security camera for the house and it worked. Trying to install a second camera kicks it off apparently due to WiFi . Anyone know if 300 Mbps is insufficient for all our devices to work? Thanks for any advice.
300 Mbps is definitely enough for all those devices and [much] more. It will depend more on your WiFi router and how it is configured.
(We live in South Florida, and also have 300Mbps Xfinity service, and have lots more devices connected. Probably more than 50 devices at this point. I have a Google Nest Mesh router with 3 connection points.)
I would think it would be an issue of installing the camera onto the router. Does the router see the Camera? You would have to be able to give the Camera access to the router.
Andy
Can you elaborate on apparently? What makes it look like it is a WiFi issue? What does kicks it off look like?
Whoops, I forgot- also 2 A/C s with WiFi thermostats, and 1 Apple Watch. Yipes, sounds like a lot doesn’t it? Anyway thanks for any guidance.
We have eufy app on phones. Both cameras separately are working when we check them individually. But we can only see 1 camera. When we set the 2nd one up, we lose the first. Only 1 camera in the system works if we try 2, 1 drops off,can no longer see it- just one . DH calling eufy this morning to get advice d. We thought it had to do with bandwidth however due to advice from this group our 300 Mbts are enough.
Do you have the cameras at different IP addresses?
Yes the router is working with the camera - one camera or the other, not both if we have both installed and ready , one or the other disappears , actually both disappear if we’ve try to install the two.we just bought the 2nd camera , we don’t have the problem when we were using just 1 for the back yard. We wanted a 2nd for the front area, set it up yesterday and the 2 won’t work Both disappear from the system when we try. Calling Eufy this morning for help.
Somebody asked about IP addresses — I don’t know if this could be an issue and I don’t know if extenders would connect with different addresses — But you could check this out if you disconnected one camera and physically placed the camera within a couple of feet of the other camera and then reconnected to the internet. That way both cameras almost certainly would connect to the same extender.
I have WiFi connected smoke alarms and they work fine with my Eero Mesh system which has 3 different points - a base and two additional access points.
If one of our connection points goes down everything just changes its WiFi connection to another location. This happens when software updates occur on the WiFi locations for example or smoke alarm updates also.
Problem solved. An important step was mis-interpreted . We were trying to “add” device in lieu of “sharing” device. Both working now thanks for all the ideas.
