We are planning a trip via air over Christmas and leaving our Model Y in the airport parking garage for 5 days.
Should I expect a loss of capacity in that time?
How long is safe?
North Carolina, so cold but not below 0.

While I do not own one, several friends who have done this very thing say that there is a small loss per day (maybe 1 or 2%) so it should be a big deal for 5 days. One friend did say that he used Sentry mode to check on his car and that seemed to drain the battery more than typical and if it is used all the time, then you can expect a lot of battery discharge.

Yes. Especially if you leave certain features (sentry, etc) turned on while it is parked. And if you check it constantly by using the Tesla app, itāll wake up the car each time and consume power. And if you have 3rd party apps (Tessie, etc) that ping the car periodically for data, itāll consume power. And if you have accessory ports turned on with things plugged into them, thatāll also consume power.
The latest version of Tesla software has some additional features that will reduce power consumption as much as possible. When parking for a long time, itās probably recommended to use them. Hereās a photo I just took of that menu option in my car.
If Iād seen this before now I would have said: to be safe, expect 5% a day, a little less if itās above 40 degrees. Charge it to 100% before you park it.
When youāre back - what was the actual drain?

I donāt often leave my car for 3 days without driving it, but the few times I have I get less than 1% loss across the three days. Thatās in an unheated garage, to be fair, but 5% a day? That seems absurd. (Mineās not a Tesla either, so thereās that.)
I was away for 6 weeks a few months ago, and one of our Teslas was parked and unplugged for the entire time. I made sure that all power-using features were off (except of course for the SIM card+wireless cellphone radio that is used to remotely wake the car when necessary) and I only āchecked itā (remotely using the app) once ever week or so. Over the 6 weeks, the car dropped by about 7%.
I canāt remember precisely, but not a noteworthy amount - maybe 1 or 2% over the five days.
Turned off a lot of things like sentry and didnāt check anything remotely (what would be the point?)
Iāll ignore it in future, and rely on auto low-power mode at 20% as insurance.
