When was the last time you saw someone asking for a reduction in pay at any level from labor to CEO?
Please pay me less, I’m not worth that much!
The Captain
CEO pay has increased over 1,200% since the late 1970s, as compared to just over 15% for average workers. That’s bonkers. It’s not good for companies, the economy, or our society. Of course they’re not going to be ok with a pay cut, they’re greedy bastards.
While true you didn’t answer my question…
The Captain
It’s a rhetorical question, doesn’t seem to need an answer. If you want one, here it is.
I agree that nobody asks for pay reductions, but that doesn’t mean nobody gets their pay reduced. Workers suffer the brunt of layoffs, wage adjustments, and othe corporate shenanigans. Clearly they don’t ask for these things.
On the other hand, CEOs often get ridiculous bonuses, no matter their company’s performance. Why?
Networking, for one.
There are essentially two options, equal opportunity and equal outcome. Equal outcome has proven to be a bust. Equal opportunity might seem unfair but it has lifted populations out of misery. Can you propose a third better system? Has it worked anywhere?

The Captain
The American public is pushing prices downward. Many of these CEO’s do not have a clue. Asking for a pay hike right now is inept. Some BOD will fire them.
No loss at all.
